Recent Events


May 2017


In May 2017 Heal The City brought the historical docudrama to the War Memorial Patriots Theater.  The Girls of Summer is a play inspired by the film a "LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN" which was based on the All American Girls Professional Baseball League.


Set in 1945, the coach of an All- Negro female baseball team prepares a group of African- American females for an exhibition game against the all white girls team Rockford Peaches. Racism, deceit, betrayal are brought to light as this powerful drama unveils.



September 2016

Heal The City was nominated to receive the prestigious Community Change Award from the New Jersey Black Issues Convention.  The award was presented in October at their annual Black NJBIC Leadership Conference Community Change Awards Reception and Awards Ceremony.


May 2016

The Heal The City team brought another Layon Gray Off Broadway Production, Kings of Harlem, to Trenton on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 7 pm at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial. There was also a special tribute to Trenton High Basketball Legends. Playing to an enthusiastic and deeply engaged crowd, the all male cast brought tears to many eyes and after it was all done, everyone to their feet.  It was truly a special night.  Go to the photo gallery to see highlights from that memorable night.
